The ever-growing popularity of Costa Rica is making it a year-round vacation destination. Whether you are coming during peak season, high season, or green season, hotels do sell out. The majority of our hotels in Costa Rica are boutique-style, with 40 rooms or less. If you want choices in accommodations, it is always best to lock them in early. Plan ahead so you don’t have to settle for anything less than what you want.

When I determined to see if Costa Rica would be a suitable place for retirement, Lisa Cederberg was recommended to me as the best person to plan the trip. She did not disappoint me. I was drawn to Lisa because she is a Californian like me (although I have lived in Texas since 2003) and she loves dogs, and dogs would be a part of our relocation. We did a phone call so I could clarify what I was looking for and Lisa prepared an itinerary that we ended up following without modifying. The plan she drew up allowed us to see much of Costa Rica during a 16-day trip. It included tourist activities but had ample free days that we could use in any way that we pleased. The trip allowed us to see the Central Valley, La Fortuna and a few of the beach towns in Guanacaste. The trip Lisa planned enabled us to gain a good foundation of knowledge on which to plan follow up trips, and I will be consulting her frequently as we continue with the momentous decision to leave the US and move to Costa Rica.

I have been interested in Costa Rica as a place to work remotely and/or move to, while taking vacations now-and-then in the meantime. When I went looking for a local guide to help me get a lay of the land and understand how to function in the country, I asked around for such a consultant. Lisa's name came up repeatedly, and now I can see why. Lisa's years of working and living in the country saved me who knows how much time and money by learning from her experience. She gave me a tour of the cities I was interested in, making sure to point out shopping and residential areas as well as local attractions and restaurants. When driving between the different cities, she was always making use of the time by sharing additional information about the country - such as how to use its currency, teaching the local lingo and courtesies, cultural sites, and easy ways to avoid petty theft (of which I never experienced nor has she using the advice). One such detail I really appreciated was the small detours she would build in along the cities visits route so I could actually see some of the cultural and natural sites she talked about. Another small detail was upon learning of my interest in local brews and coffees, she went above and beyond to inform me of what the best ones were, where to get them, showing me the products directly and then providing samples so I could experience them first-hand. I have come to know Lisa as a relentless worker focused on over-delivering. I will be returning to Costa Rica again for more adventurous purposes, to explore the volcanic jungle regions of the country. I will be turning to Lisa once again to plan and organize that trip. If you prefer learning from other people's experience instead of reinventing the wheel the hard way for yourself, Lisa is it.
